Friday- I came home from work and I talked Drew in to going to going to the movies (one that he didn't want to see). We went and saw Fireproof, Christian based movie about marriage. I really didn't know a whole lot about the moving going in to it, but let me just tell you it was one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. Yes, I'll admit the acting was a little cheesy, but the message was great. This is a movie for ANYONE, single, newly married, forever married, divorced... whatever. It made me want to do better for my marriage and work a little harder. I'll tell you after being married for 6 months and 1 week, marriage isn't easy. Love is a choice, not a feeling. Anyways, I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but it's AMAZING. Go see it... tell everyone about it... and bring your Kleenex. P.S.- I noticed when we were leaving the movie every couple was holding hands... so cute. :) Drew liked it too! Afterwards we went to a new, local restaurant called Pourhouse. It was good, I have no complaints.
Saturday- I was asked to judge a Halloween costume contest for a barrel race that was across the street from our house. (side note: I used to participate in this contest every year back when I used to barrel race. This is a contest where the contestant (rider) and horse dresses up) The competition was pretty stiff this year! 1st place went to the horse and rider both dressed up like a skunk, 2nd was Princess Fiona (rider) and Shrek (horse), and 3rd was Cinderella being pulled in an actual carriage by her pony. Others were the headless horse man, robin hood, bride & groom, mummy.... They were all so good!! I will see if I can get any pics. We stuck around and watched my mom and everyone else run. We really didn't do much the rest of the afternoon besides lounge around... I think I went to bed around 7:30 or so.. HA!!
Sunday- We went to church and came home so Drew could watch the football game. That afternoon we had plans to go over to the Rutledge's to have the annual pumpkin carving contest. I have to say, ours turned out really great!! I wanted to do something really creative so I got online and started hunting for a really good template. Well, I found a dachshund that looked just like our little Cuddles! It was a little ambitious but I thought I'd give it a try. I cleaned out my pumpkin and poked most of the dots, but Drew did most of the carving.... I could be dangerous w/ a knife!! This wasn't your typical pumpkin carving, this template told you to just take the skin off of the pumpkin. Everyone else's pumpkin looked good too. I especially liked Kendall's Frankenstein!! :) Ages ranged from 5-50!! It was good to get out to the Rutledges to visit, it had been a while since we have been out there.... lots of good food and friends!! :)
Doesn't it look just like Cuddles?!
