Diet... what diet????

I was trying to start eating better this week but look what I found today!! Yes, that is right, Girl Scout Cookies!!! Oh my gosh... I couldn't resist. Cute little girls selling cookies right outside the bank on my way home. These cookies are the best things in the world and since I only get to eat them once a year I wasn't going to pass up and opportunity to buy me a few boxes!! I was a Girl Scout back in the day so I have lots of experience with Girl Scout Cookies. I've got to support my peeps, right? Good thing I went walking 3 times this week!! I'll only allow myself to eat a couple of cookies a day, so I won't deviate off the diet too much.

Speaking of cookies. Did I tell you that my dad and I will be competing against each other in a peanut butter cookie throw down on Sunday? This guy thinks he got a chance of beating his daughter (the baker) at making cookies!! HA! If this was a grilling competition he might have a chance, but cookies! I told Mom no helping. Mom, if you are reading this... NO HELPING DAD!! I've got to find the perfect PB cookie recipe. Too bad I can't enter the Tagalong (the peanut butter & chocolate Girl Scout cookie) in the contest. It would win hands down!!! Seriously, I would vote for the Tagalong over my own.

Survey

1. How did you and your hubby meet?

I was over at the Godi's house helping April unload some old window panes out of the truck. April told me that Drew was there (they had been talking about introducing us). I wasn't really all that interested in meeting him... I mean, he didn't drive a truck and was NOT a cowboy (yes, those were my standards back in the day). Drew drove a sports car! Drew was inside playing opossum (pretending to be asleep), he was so shy and just said 'hi'. Drew ended up unloading wood for us and I saw his face and thought that he was cute. So, any how I went back to the Godi's on Christmas night to play game night and Drew was there again! We went out that night and then again on New Year's eve. We have been inseparable ever since.

2. If you could do any job in the world, what would it be?

Be a stay at home mom or a hairstylist. When I was 4 I said a shoe store lady or a clown!! HA

3. What are you and your hubby's dreams for the future?

We want at least 3 kiddos, we'll see after the first one. One day we would like to get out of our 'starter' home and have some land. Maybe I can get a horse again another day and Drew would love to have a shop to work on old cars!

4. Why did you start blogging?

Kendall got me started reading hers. I didn't realize that there was a blogging world and I could nose around in other peoples business! HA I feel like I know some of these people personally! I'm now an addict... bloggers anonymous??

5. Who do you look up to? Who is your inspiration?

I look up to a lot of people. My parents. My momma would leave the house for work at 6am growing up and not get back until 6pm sometimes. She could somehow manage to take me to piano lessons, ride my horse, feed horses, clean stalls and get dinner on the table,. All while my dad is out of the town too! I only have dogs and could only imagine!! My Grandpa Wise has taught be the value of a dollar and to work hard so you can play later. Or like Dave Ramsey would say, 'live like no one else so you can LIVE like no one else!' They would all back me up and support me in anything I do.

The Spy

This weekend Drew and I were sitting in the living room watching TV and Hobie would run up to the window every few minutes and just stare at us, then he would run off and play with his Frisbee. I told Drew that he wanted to play and sure enough, a few minutes later he came back to the window with his Frisbee in his mouth and held it up to the window. What a character!!! Drew and I were laughing so hard!! I couldn't get a good picture when he could keeping bringing his Frisbee back to us but he kept it up for a while. Silly boy!

I decided to take on the task of redoing Drew's Grandmother's China hutch shortly after moving in our house. My Grandma Wise gave me a set of 7 different types of glasses for a wedding shower gift that was my Great Grandmother Kolb's. The glasses have been in a closet waiting for their new home to get done. Our kitchen had an empty hole in it (still does.. now all I need is a kitchen table) and since the China hutch was only collecting dust in Drew's parents barn it came home with me! Drew wanted nothing to do with this and told me the project was all mine. So I sanded the entire thing down, took the hardware off, took the doors off, painted it and put everything back on. I also added punched tin where there was lovely frosted glass. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't ugly, just not my style. So it has been in my kitchen since, hardly being used b/c I was afraid I would scratch it since the clear coat was never applied. Well folks, clear coat has been applied and it has been filled with China.

One of each of the glasses. The one of the far right is only about 3 inches tall.. so cute!

This cup and saucer was also my Great Grandmothers. I finally got a stand this weekend so I was able to display it. I think it looks great on my hutch!
Grandma sure did a great job wrapping each glass! Whew, what a mess!

I still need to find the right hardware to put on it. Any ideas??

The Results Are In....

Drum roll please.... Steve still is living in my kidney. GREAT!! Great, great, great... grrrr!!!! The only good thing is that it measured 4mm and last time it was 6mm. I have 2 options: to continue with the Urocit K or I could have the surgery to have it removed. It is a toss up... I just don't know what to do. I am tired of taking 1-2 pills 3 times a day, then measuring my pH levels. The Dr said that if I decided to go the medicine route it would probably take up to 3 months to dissolve.... if that is what made the stone smaller in the first place. I can't even think how many pills that is, all I know it that it is too many!! Steve could also decide to pass at any point... about a 60% chance now.

Pros of surgery
  1. It will be done and over with
  2. Don't have to take stinky medicine
  3. Knowing it will actually work
  4. I get to miss a few days of work... HA

Cons of surgery

  1. It will hurt a little and a few days after
  2. Cost....

I have to go out of town for work in a couple of weeks and we did determine that it would be a good idea to wait until I get back. In the mean time he wants me to try to take the medicine.

Steve or No Steve?? That is the question!

Today I am giong to the Dr to find out if Steve ('The Stone') disappeared or not. Please pray that it is gone and I don't have to have surgery!!

Valentine's

Poor Drew tried to surprise me the day before Valentine's with two dozen roses at work from ProFlowers. Somehow they didn't get delivered & the order was never processed online. To make up for it he took me to Lantana Lodge on Valentine's for a nice dinner. The waiter tried to cheat us on the appetizer- Roasted Poblano Chowder, but they were out. He didn't even offer us the alternative that they were giving everyone else... oh well.

Waiting for dinner down by the lake in the gazebo

Drew got me Fireproof the movie and book for Valentine's!! I was so excited! You can go here to read my review on it.

Drew's Valentine's present- a homemade card with all the reasons why I love him. It was a little cheesy but he really liked it and that is all that matters!

Hobie and Cuddles wondering where their present is

Drew laughing... "I love my husband because he lets me put my cold toes on him at night"

Time flies when you are having fun

Today is our10 month anniversary! I can't believe it has almost been 1 year already. Sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday when he proposed and I was planning a wedding, other times it feels like it has been forever

P.S. I know I'm a little overdue on blogging but our computer was out of commission for a few days. I promise I will post soon and let you know how our Valentine's was.

25 Completely Random Things About Me: For Kendall

  1. I clean my ears with a Q-tip twice a day. I HAVE to have clean ears!
  2. My favorite foods are just about anything that consists of cheese or peanut butter (except PB&J.. YUCK). I have only come across one cheese I didn't like and that was Bree. My favorite thing w/ peanut butter is PB pie or Reese's PB cups
  3. I was voted best hair in high school.... w/ a perm!! HA I don't know what I would do without my hair. Love getting it highlighted and it has been getting shorter and shorter since I've gotten married.
  4. Speaking of marriage, I love it! It's a learning process, but we keep each other on our toes and laugh at each other.... a lot!!
  5. I don't think I have very many random facts about myself but hopefully I can make it to 25!!
  6. People are always commenting that I cough a lot. Well, I can't help it. I have a lung disease that causes that. End of story.
  7. My first car was a Pontiac Grand AM!! Her name was Myrtle, she was a teal/green, had ground effects that were half broken off in the front. Every time we drove across any inclines they scraped and made a horrible noise!! Oh, so many memories w/ Myrtle!
  8. I hate taking pills. I've never been really good at it and I have the worst gag reflex.
  9. Sweet surprises make me happy!!
  10. I think Steve (my stone) is still living in my kidney and I might have to have surgery.. :(
  11. I've never been a big fan of video games (unless it is Super Mario Brothers) but I have become a fan of the WII. I secretly want one. I have a really good time playing my parents
  12. Speaking of number 12... My Grandpa Wise and I share the same birthday. March 12th
  13. One thing off of my bucket list is to ride in a hot air balloon.
  14. I used to rodeo and barrel race. I miss it sometimes, but I always wonder where I will ever find the time or money to start up again.
  15. I had a horse named Lucky growing up. He was my baby. If he would have fit in my bed, I would have let him. My parent's sold him when I got a new horse but we kept in touch with his new family. I found out some time last year he was struck by lightning and died at 25 years old. :(
  16. Some people call me Kanga because I used to wear a lot of overalls and they have that little pouch in the front.
  17. Others call me Opossum because they say I'm always smiling.
  18. I always wanted a little sibling growing up. One time I even told my babysitter that my mom was pregnant when she really wasn't. HA I'm sure that was an interesting conversation growing up.
  19. If my parents asked me if I wanted to go to the garage growing up that meant I was about to get my butt busted by Woody... the paddle!!
  20. I really enjoy cooking and learning new recipes. However, I HATE doing dishes and cleaning up the mess I make!
  21. I love music!! I love to sing!! I'm not very good but I took voice lessons once (thanks Ashley). Country music is my favorite.

  22. My other 'husband' is Matthew McConaughey. I'm in love with him, even if he doesn't wear deodorant and plays the bongos in his front yard naked!!
  23. The only family members I have in Texas are my parents, brother and in-laws. I wish all my other family lived in Texas with me.
  24. I LOVE TV! I have so many favorite shows, but I'll save those for another blog another day.
  25. My other favorite food is ice cream. Have you ever been to Cold Stone?? Oh my goodness!!! Bluebell... made here, deep in the heart of Texas!! I just don't really care for fruity ice cream.

Not much to say on this lovely Tuesday evening filled with rain

Enjoy the pics!

What I saw this morning when I got done drying my hair. I guess Hobie and Cuddles were still tired and decided to help themselves to our bed. Cuddles was snoozing until I got my camera out. This weekend I helped Peggy, my hair dresser, put UL up in her new salon. Doesn't it look great?!

This weekend we celebrated Valentine's day a little early with our Sunday School class. We went to dinner at an Italian restaurant then went back to David & Alberta's house to play POKENO!!

Alberta & Kim

Friends, let me just tell you.... I WON 5 TIMES!!!! I guess I went from not so lucky last time to super lucky this time.

I also went to a UL training. I got inspired and hopefully can get back into the swing of things. I want to have a craft night soon. I've got to get my ideas together. Anyone want to come to craft night or host an open house?!

Happy Birthday to My Big Brother

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BROOKS!!!

A little brotherly love from my wedding

Funny of the day

Yesterday I had a Dr's appointment for a check up. Drew met me there and when I was checking in he walked up with his shirt on inside out!!!! I was laughing so hard!!!! This was not just a plain T-shirt, this was a polo (a collared shirt). I couldn't believe he didn't notice!!! I asked him if he got dressed with his eyes closed or looked in the mirror before he left the house, of course he said "no." Such a typical guy!! He tried to blame his inside out shirt on me because that is the way he pulled it off the hanger. I said "no, no. I would NEVER EVER hang something on the hanger inside out, you must have done that load!!" SERIOUSLY!! Then, I had to giggle a little more because I thought of all places he went before he met me at the Dr's office and nobody said a word to him.

Oh, the life of newlyweds! Unfortunately, Drew wouldn't let me take a picture!! UGH!! This probably isn't funny to any of you... you would have had of been there.

Birthday Parties

This weekend Drew and I ventured to Ft. Worth to celebrate some birthdays. It was Shanna's (Drew's sister) 30th birthday and Natalie's (my coworker and friend) 26th birthday. Natalie's husband, Charles, emailed me the other day asking if we were interested in surprising Natalie for her birthday by going to dinner and then going to Pete's. I told him absolutely because we would already be at Pete's that night celebrating Shanna's birthday!! How convenient?! So, needless to say we all had a really good time and I just sang my little heart out.

Shanna & I

I don't even know who this picture is of.... anyone know?? Shanna would probably think I was crazy for not knowing who this person is. HA Obviously she is in love!!
